ALBERNI DISTRICT FALL FAIR
September 9 - September 12
It is with great sorrow we announce today that the 2020 Alberni District Fall Fair slated for September 10, 11, 12, 13th 2020 has now been postponed for a year. The Fall Fair Board of Directors is following our Provincial Health Officer’s announcement that indicates there will be no mass gatherings, by respecting social distancing in order to control the COVID-19 pandemic. We recognize our event is a collective place to meet, and a celebration that our community looked forward to but realistically the safety of our guests is most important.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors for your consideration in supporting the fair this year, our 85 plus volunteers that put in countless hours, the groups that help make the fair happen, we recognize this will also impact your fundraising efforts, the entertainers, vendors, exhibitors, logger sports contestants and most especially you our guests that support the fair to make this event live on as the #1 destination for family entertainment in our community.
This year would have marked our 75th Fair. We are a resilient group and know we will return in 2021 with a 75th celebration to remember.
As you can well imagine cancelling this year’s fair impacts our organization financially. It takes a lot of revenue to put on the fair, with several direct fair expenses already committed to for 2020 along with fixed expenses that we rely on for the upkeep of the fairgrounds. We are already putting our thinking caps on to come up with other possible events that support social distancing that we may be able to offer the community over the next few months to ensure that we can stay solvent and return with a bigger and better fair next year. Look for continued posts on our social media sites for updates. One thing for sure a lot of thought will go into any plans, making sure we follow provincial health protocols.
We will prevail, and will work through these challenging times, and come out stronger to once again to gather at the fair in 2021.
